The fight for first place in the Pacific Division will continue this week as the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers engage in an NBA betting matchup at the Staples Center on Wednesday night.
Blake Griffin and company took care of business against the Lakers in their first meeting this season on January 14, winning 102-94 as a 3-point favorite in NBA betting action at Bovada. The combined score turned the contest into an OVER result for bettors.
That outcome put an end to a two-game losing streak for the Clippers against the Lakers, and overall they've managed to win just four of their last 10 meetings with their fellow Staples Center tenant. However, the Clippers paid off for their supporters in those contests, failing to cover the posted spread just twice over the 10 matchups.
Five of the past seven meetings between the Los Angeles teams were OVER results.
The Lakers get another two-day break after Wednesday, as they return to action on Saturday in Milwaukee and then play in Minnesota on Sunday. The Clippers will host Memphis on Thursday before playing at Denver on Sunday and then returning home to take on Oklahoma City next Monday night.
The Thunder are in action on Wednesday night this week as well, as they'll be at home against the Hornets. Oklahoma City got past New Orleans 95-85 on the road back on January 11, covering as a 6.5-point favorite in an UNDER result for NBA bettors at Bovada.
Each of the past six meetings between the Thunder and Hornets have been UNDER results, and Oklahoma City has paid off against the spread in eight of their past 10 matchups. The Thunder also won six of those 10 most recent contests straight up.
After facing the Thunder on Wednesday the Hornets will get another tough matchup on Friday when they host the Magic. Orlando, though, will be playing their fourth game in five nights, taking on the Celtics on Monday and Thursday and the Pacers on Tuesday.
The Magic then have another NBA betting matchup on tap against the Pacers at home on Sunday; Orlando is 8-2 straight up in their last 10 games against Indiana, but they managed to cover the posted spread at Bovada in just five of those 10 contests.
